A 60sq.m apartment was reconstructed on the top floor of a block with flats in Athens. The apartment’s layout had to be designed based on fact that columns & beams were constructed in 1970 and served a plan that was unsuitable to new owner’s needs.
The design’s aim was the creation of a united, flexible space that would offer convenience, since the layout was too restrictive. Because of the existence of an inverted beam the plan was necessarily organized in two levels. Thus, the entrance and the dining room are elevated from the living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
Through the large window a spectacular view of the Acropolis can be seen set against a dark colored wall. The sliding glass panels open, disappearing into the wall, thus converting the balcony into the living room’s continuation.
All the spaces are characterized by simple lines and natural materials only to serve comfort and functionality.
